Case study 2.5.2

Read the case given below and answer the questions that follow. Record you responses in your personal journal and discuss them during your group discussions.

 Magharibi School has been among the top ten county schools. Mr. Bidii, the Head teacher, has a  very successful teaching background. He has been with the school for the past 4 years. Mr. Bidii makes ambitious plans for the school to perform well. The teachers are given aggressive targets and pushed to attain their targets. The teachers work to their best abilities to achieve their targets. Mr. Bidii himself works hard. Inspite of this, there is no formal appraisal and reward system in the school. As a result several teachers have left the school due to dissatisfaction. Those who have left the school were some of the best teachers. But Mr. Bidii did not care for this high turnover. He is over confident that he will continually receive new staff.

          i.            Identify the major performance challenges facing this school
