Prior to devolution, there were several types of boards such as Provincial Education Boards (PEBs), District Education Boards (DEBs), Board of Governors (BOGs) for secondary schools and School Management Committees (SMCs) for primary schools. Devolution has created new boards, namely, the National Education Board (NEB), County Education Boards (CEB), and Boards of Management (BOMs).

 

  1. ·         Discuss the major differences between the pre-devolution education boards (PEB, DEBs, BOGs, and SMCs) and the post-devolution education boards (NEB, CEBs, and BOMs).
  2. Discuss the strengths of having a Management Committee for pre-primary schools.
  3.  Discuss the merits of embracing the Parents Association in the Basic Education Act (2013) with reference to participatory management.
  4. Discuss the significance of the education stakeholders in promoting education access, equity and quality.
  5.  Discuss the pros and cons of including education stakeholders in education management matters.
